The Truth About Cancer:
Oncocology on Canvas & The Wellness
Community
Last month on WFYI TV 20, the program
The Truth About Cancer debuted. In
this special, award-winning filmmaker
Linda Garmon shares the story of her
husband’s battle with cancer.
In conjunction with the broadcast,
WFYI has organized an exhibition of
cancer survivors’ art as well
as other special activities.
This week The Art of the Matter is
running two special interviews dealing
with this subject. The first is a piece
Sharon Gamble recorded two years ago,
titled Oncology on Canvas, about an
exhibit at the Harrison Center of artwork
created by cancer survivors.
For part two, Travis DiNicola sat
down to chat with Dwayne Kniola and
Jan Wilson of the Wellness Community.
The Wellness community is a non-profit
organization providing free support,
education and hope to individuals
and their families affected by cancer.
Dwayne is the clinical program director
and Jan is an art therapist. Visit
www.twc-indy.org for more information.
And, if you – or someone
you love – are living with
cancer, or if you are a caregiver
for a cancer patient or survivor,
mark your calendar and plan to
participate in one of the upcoming
film screening and discussion events
for The Truth About Cancer: June
4 at 7 pm at the Pike Library,
and June 11 at 7 pm at the Southport
Library. More information is also
available at www.wfyi.org/truthAboutCancer.asp
Preservation Month
Happy Preservation Month! Tina Connor,

as Sharon Gamble recently learned.
