StoryCorps is Coming to Indianapolis
August 30 to September
22, 2007
Letterman’s
mom interviewed for StoryCorps, by The Indianapolis
Star...
StoryCorps, a national initiative to document
everyday history and the unique stories of America,
will
be in Indianapolis to collect the tales of
Central Indiana residents as part of the program’s
cross-country tour. StoryCorps is a project
of Sound Portraits Productions in partnership
with
National Public Radio and the American Folklife
Center (AFC) at the Library of Congress.
At
the MobileBooth, people participate in pairs
and one interviews the other. A trained facilitator
guides the participants through the interview
process and handles the technical aspects of
the recording. At the end of a 40-minute session,
the participants walk away with a CD of their
interview. With their permission, a second copy
will be sent to the American Folklife Center
(AFC) at the Library of Congress where it becomes
part of a high quality digital archive. This
collection will eventually grow into an oral
history of America. To learn more about this national
initiative visit the StoryCorps national website
here...
WFYI welcomes StoryCorps in partnership with
the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library.
