INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say one man has been fatally shot and another is in critical condition following a double shooting on the city's west side.

Sgt. Kendale Adams says officers responding to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of North Sheffield Ave. found one man inside a car with a gunshot wound to the head about 4 a.m. Tuesday. That man was later pronounced dead at Eskenazi Hospital.

The second man was found wounded on the porch of a nearby home and police say he's listed in critical condition and is expected to survive.

Police brought the suspect into custody later Tuesday morning following a standoff at a home in the 3600 block of Creston Drive, near Washington Street and Holt Road. The suspect did eventually surrender peacefully.
