Delaware County 2nd-Grader Collapses On Bus, Hospitalized With Meningitis

DALEVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A second-grader at a Delaware County school has been hospitalized with viral meningitis after collapsing on a school bus.

WTHR-TV reports the girl, who's a student at Daleville Elementary School, collapsed as the bus pulled up to her house. Daleville Superintendent Paul Garrison says the bus has been quarantined.

Crews at the school have spent extra time cleaning hard surfaces throughout the building. A two-week spring break that begins after school Friday will give crews more time to clean.

The district says there haven't been any reports of other children getting sick, but that symptoms could take three to five days to surface.
