INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say 42 people have been arrested in the Indianapolis area on charges they were in the country illegally.
A news release says the arrests were part of a month-long operation conducted by officers in six Midwestern states and led to the arrests of 287 men and 10 women from 29 countries.
In the Indianapolis area, 24 of those arrested were convicted criminals, 18 were immigration fugitives and seven were previously deported from the United States and re-entered illegally. 38 of those arrested in Indianapolis were men and four were women.
