Early Voting Starts In Marion County

Early Voting Starts In Marion County

Early voting is underway in Marion County and there’s plenty of time to cast your ballot before Election Day.

The Marion County Clerk’s office will be open for early voting from 8 AM to 5 PM weekdays through Oct 24th, then it will start extended and weekend hours leading up to Election Day.

Marion County Clerk Beth White says the early voting option is becoming more and more popular because of the convenience.

"When I took over elections eight years ago it was true that more people mailed in their early ballots than did come in person and that has been turned on its head the last couple of years." says White.

People can still choose to mail-in their votes but they do have to request a new ballot every election.

White says the November 4 election is a non-presidential/federal election.

"Which means we have congress on the ballot and state wide offices, lots of county offices, we have school board races," says White, "so it's a big ballot, lots of things to vote for."

People who want to vote at the Clerk’s office at the City County building should bring a valid I.D. and use the Delaware St. door so they don’t have to go through security.

On Tuesday, the first day of early voting, 112 people cast their ballots.
