Evans Retiring As IU Health President/CEO

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana University Health says its president and chief executive officer, Daniel Evans Jr., has announced his retirement plans.

Evans will step down as president immediately and as CEO on May 1, 2016.

Current IU Health Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dennis M. Murphy will be promoted to president immediately and and CEO on May 1. IU Health says Murphy will continue to serve as COO until a successor is named.

During Evans' 13-year tenure, IU Health has grown from three hospitals in downtown Indianapolis to a unified statewide health system of nearly 20 hospitals and health centers that treat more than 2.5 million patients per year.

Before joining IU Health in 2013, Murphy was COO and executive vice president at Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago.
