Winter Storm Warning Issued For Central Indiana

The first winter storm of the season is moving into Indiana, packing sleet, ice, snow and bitter cold.

Much of Central  Indiana is under a Winter Storm Warning until Friday evening. Winter Weather Advisories from Lafayette and Crawfordsville to Kokomo will also continue into Friday evening.

From the National Weather Service in Indianapolis:

A combination of freezing rain and sleet will overspread Central Indiana Thursday afternoon. The precipitation will change to snow early this evening in the Advisory area. The change to all snow in the Indy Metro will occur around 9 p.m. and finally toward Bedford...Seymour and Columbus after midnight.

Snow totals by Friday evening will roughly range from 3-6 inches north of I-70 and from 6-10 inches south of I-70 with the lowest amounts near Lafayette and highest near Seymour. Temperatures will drop into the 20s and wind chills will drop into the teens.
