Homeless Honored At Service

Homeless Honored At Service

An annual memorial Friday honors those that have lost their lives on the street this year.  The Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) has been participating in the national event since 1996 in Indianapolis.

Friday's ceremony was held at the Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle.

In hopes of helping those most in need, the memorial features a number of speakers from local outreach and health organizations.  A complimentary lunch is provided for the homeless, service providers and volunteers.

This year's service remembers more people than ever says CHIP Executive Director Christy Shepard.

"We are celebrating the lives of more than 50 individuals this year and it's just very sad." says Shepard.

People can learn more about the need and help at chipindy.org.
