Hoosier Country Artist And Her Husband Receive Grammy Nomination

INDIANAPOLIS -- The list of 2016 Grammy nominees announced Monday includes Hoosier country artist Joey Feek and her husband Rory.

Joey+Rory’s version of "If I Needed You" is up for the award in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category.

Rory shared the news on Facebook.

The news comes at a difficult time for the husband-wife duo. Joey, 40, had surgery to treat cervical cancer in 2014, but it returned as Stage IV this summer. With the cancer spreading aggressively, she opted to stop treatment in October; and she recently entered hospice care at her family farm in Alexandria, Indiana.

Rory has been sharing the couple’s journey on his This Life I Live blog. On November 29 he wrote about the couple’s last dance.

"A few days ago, on the last day Joey walked, I took her in my arms in the living room and once more put her hand in mine and we danced. She steadied with her cane and I softly moved her across the room singing George Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love” in her ear. In the middle of the song though, as I was being careful not to step on her toes – she stopped and looked up at me and said, 'How about if I lead?'. And I followed her lead as we slowly two-stepped on her mama’s living room floor.

Joey+Rory first landed on the national scene in 2008 with a third place finish on CMT’s reality show “Can You Duet?” They later had their own weekly television show on rural America’s RFD-TV. The Feeks have three children, including youngest daughter, Indiana, born in February 2014.
