INDIANAPOLIS — Soccer fans in Indiana celebrated the U.S. women's soccer team winning the World Cup over Japan, with Indy Eleven celebrating while viewing their team's fall opener against the New York Cosmos.

Indy Eleven spokesman Tom Dunmore called it a unique opportunity to showcase Indianapolis' team with fans watching the World Cup game on a larger TV screen and a smaller screen showing the Eleven. Several hundred fans went wild on North Street as Carli Lloyd scored the U.S. team's fourth goal.

In South Bend, a sizable crowd turned out at Fiddler's Hearth restaurant downtown to watch the World Cup game. Fans chanted "U-S-A!" and blew horns as they celebrated the victory.
