Indiana Veteran Receives State Award For Serving In 3 Wars

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An 89-year-old Indiana veteran has been honored by the state for his service in three wars.

Robert Hyatt of Franklin was presented with a Sagamore of the Wabash award Monday at the Indiana Statehouse. WTHR-TV reports he received standing ovations from both the Indiana House of Representatives and the State Senate.

Hyatt served as a medic in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was shot in the leg during WWII and stabbed during his time in Korea.

Only one other living Indiana veteran has served in three wars.
