  • Monday,10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The Animal Intake area of the shelter has separate hours and no changes are planned to those hours. They will remain Monday – Saturday from 12 noon - 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays and city holidays.

In a press release, shelter officials said the changes are "an effort to allow employees more time with their families, and still allow for maximum operational coverage for the citizens of Indianapolis."

IACC takes in approximately 16,000 animals each year, and is the largest animal shelter in the state of Indiana. The public is encouraged to visit the shelter to look for lost animals, or to adopt one of the hundreds of dogs and cats waiting for homes.
