Local Company Developing Educational Apps

A local company that creates educational games is hoping to break into the classroom.  Evanced Games is a start-up of Avon based Evanced Solutions, a company that works to provide resources to community libraries.

The new company is focused on educational mobile apps that kids can play in and out of class and CEO Rob Cullin says some teachers are already finding them usefull.

"It provides a really good, fun platform for interaction between the resource teahcer and the student and gets them wanting to work," Cullin said.

Starting with phonics games, the company says they teach the way children want to learn. Evanced Games is also working on new apps that incorporate math and science lessons.

Former award-winning teacher Lindsey Hill is now working with the group and says today’s kids are already spending a lot of time in front of computers and mobile devices.

"What our apps do is give them appropriate ways to play some of the games and make it meaningful to them," Hill said.

The company hopes an upcoming move to Indianapolis will help efforts to expand the apps into schools.
