President Of National Association Of Manufacturers Kicks Off National Tour At Purdue

The President of the National Association of Manufacturers kicked off his 2015 national tour at Purdue Tuesday, and had strong words for the Obama administration.

While lauding Indiana for employing 30 percent of Hoosiers in manufacturing jobs, Jay Timmons blasted the White House for proposals that would create new rules for businesses to follow.

“Regulation of greenhouse gases that would limit fuel choice. It would increase energy prices and it would make power less reliable," Timmons said. "And its proposed ozone regulation could shut down facilities and force manufacturers to scrap expansion plans.”

Timmons also called for lowering the corporate tax rate, which he called the highest in the world, even though sources differ on the topic, noting how complex that metric is.

He also called for more free trade agreements and echoed Gov. Mike Pence’s State of the State speech call for an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy technology, which Timmons would like to see include construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
