FAQs
Q:

I don't hear any sound when I watch WFYI Public Television. What can I do?

A:

Because WFYI Public Television broadcasts a Descriptive Audio Channel on our SAP (Secondary Audio Program) signal, new viewers may experience loss of audio (no sound) when they first visit channel 20. Television sets are now pre-programmed to recognize SAP programming (descriptive narration for visually impaired viewers). Viewers interested in this feature must have a stereo television and be able to program it via remote control. By making a small adjustment to your tuner with your remote control, you can change this feature and resume normal sound delivery to your set.

  • Using your hand-held remote control, select Audio Menu.
  • Choose either Mono or Stereo.

That's all there is to it! Making this change will not affect the audio reception of other television programming because WFYI Public Television is the only local station to broadcast the Descriptive Audio channel.

Q: When can I start watching WFYI in high definition format (HDTV)?
A:

WFYI began airing an HDTV signal in April 2003. To find out more about WFYI and HDTV, please visit our DTV mini-site.
