Annual Free Festival Set for June 13

Spend a day with a grinning dinosaur and a curious monkey…snuggle up to a sweater-wearing tiger and a gangly purple bird…or high-five a big red dog and a lovely princess. Kids of all ages can do this and more, at  WFYI’s 22nd annual free family festival, PBS KIDS in the Park, presented by PNC, on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., outside at Military Park in downtown Indianapolis.

The entire day is geared for children and their families, who can meet favorite PBS KIDS characters like Curious George, Princess Presto, Clifford, Buddy the dinosaur, Zoe from Sesame Street, Daniel Tiger and many others. In addition, two stages will host live family friendly entertainment, including local favorites such as Know No Stranger, Ruditoonz, Kid Kazooey, Indy Air Bears Jump Rope Team, and more. Crafts, games and other kid-friendly activities round out the fun. Event is free. Food can be purchased from a dozen local food vendors. Learn more about the event.

New this year: Block Parties. While the festival is free, families who want a more specialized experience at the park in an air-conditioned environment, can purchase an add-on party. Choose from three block party events, with Peg and Cat, Curious George, or Daniel Tiger. Each party will offer participants time to meet the characters, plus character-inspired crafts and snacks, entertainment, and more in an inside, air-conditioned space. Cost for each block party is $30 for a family of up to four, with $10 per additional child. Details and registration at: wfyi.org/kip. Questions about these add-ons, contact Suzanne at (317) 614-0464.

WFYI’s annual festival is made possible with the help of local businesses and organizations, particularly PNC, IPL, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, The Goddard School, and Indy’s Child, and many others.
