Longtime host of Indiana Week in Review to retire in November

A familiar fixture in Indiana broadcasting, as well as the longtime host/moderator of WFYI’s Indiana Week in Review, Jim Shella, has announced his retirement from his position with IWIR.  His last show will be Friday, November 25.

Over his 25 years as host/moderator for the program, Shella has played an integral role in the success and impact of IWIR. The program is a favorite among many WFYI viewers and listeners, who tune in each week to get the latest perspectives on Indiana news and politics, and to watch the oft-times fiery intensity of the panelists’ discussion.

“Jim has played a vital role in building Indiana Week in Review into the lively program it is today, and we at WFYI will miss him and his leadership a great deal,” said Lloyd Wright, WFYI president and CEO. “We wish him only the very best in this next phase of life.”

Wright notes that the show will go on.

“WFYI is committed to providing our community with impactful programming, and Indiana Week in Review is a show that will continue,” Wright said. “While we will miss Jim, we are excited to announce that Brandon Smith will take the reins as host of IWIR in early December. Smith serves as Indiana Public Broadcasting Statehouse Bureau Chief. Brandon received his Bachelor’s degree in journalism, with minors in history and political science, from the University of Missouri. With his work at the Statehouse since 2011, Brandon brings a unique skillset to ensure Indiana Week in Review continues to provide discussions of important topics each week.”

We’re proud to continue providing the latest perspectives on this week’s news on Indiana Week in Review, which airs on WFYI Public Radio each Friday at 6 p.m., and on WFYI Public Television each Friday at 8:30 p.m. In addition to WFYI, IWIR is a signature program statewide and airs weekly on the seven other Indiana Public Broadcasting stations throughout the state.
