Reach Out Read IN

Join the Indianapolis Public Library and Reach Out and Read Indiana, for a celebration of language and literacy. The Indianapolis Public Library invites families and children of all ages for a celebration of language and learning throughout the Central Library's Learning Curve.

Beginning at 10 a.m., guest celebrities will read stories aloud to children. Families and individuals can read books to win prizes. The day also will feature Grammy-nominated artist José-Luis Orozco (11 a.m.) who will present a family concert in Central Library's Clowes Auditorium. The first 150 children in attendance at the concert will receive a free CD by the storytelling musician. There will be strolling magic, Crouching Tigers classes, a Tribute to Dr. Seuss magic show, face painting, arts and crafts, and appearances by Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Event is FREE and open to the public. Every book you read during the event helps build the home library of an at-risk preschooler.

Reach Out and Read is a non-profit organization that supports medical providers who give books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud at well-child exams.

This program is presented in partnership by The Indianapolis Public Library, WFYI, The American Graduate Initiative, the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Reach Out and Read, and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
