Conner Prairie will participate in the Smithsonian Institution’s cohort program. “Promised Land as Proving Ground” to portray faith-based Black culture through food, music, dance, and activism from pre-colonial Africa to the present.

Conner Prairie is one of only nine organizations nationwide participating in a Smithsonian Institution program to foster community engagement and encourage community conversations about African American culture from pre-colonial Africa to the present day.

A traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibit on life in rural America will be on display at northern Indiana's Elkhart County Historical Museum until mid-March.
