2016 Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Debate
The two candidates running to be Indiana’s superintendent for public instruction met in their only scheduled debate Oct. 17 in Fort Wayne.
Democrat Glenda Ritz and Republican Jennifer McCormick agreed to meet on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne for a 60 minute debate that was recorded for rebroadcast on radio and television.
Incumbent Ritz took office in January 2013 after ousting a Republican state schools chief. McCormick is the superintendent of Yorktown Schools.
Claire McInerny, education reporter for StateImpact Indiana, and Eric Weddle, education reporter for WFYI, moderated the debate.
