Into Nigeria

Images emerging from Africa are often desperate and dangerous. They many times depict missionaries or medical workers from other continents leading the way with their time, efforts and expertise to improve the lives of Africans. "Into Nigeria" reverses that paradigm.
Dr. Mercy Obeime is a successful Nigerian-educated physician practicing in Indianapolis, Indiana. Along with her husband Dr. Chris Obeime, they founded the Mercy Foundation in hopes of going back to their home village of Uromi, Nigeria to implement a comprehensive health-services system to educate and treat people on a continuing basis. The paradigm shift: a Nigerian-American doctor who treats primarily indigent whites in America, going back to her homeland to offer similar services to her native people.
"Into Nigeria" is a WFYI Productions documentary project, in association with P1 Productions.
