La Casa Azul, The Musical
“Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?” - Frida Kahlo
Crippled and chronically ill, Mexican painter Frida Kahlo rose above her disabilities to create legendary works of art. Inspired by Frida’s passion and grit, Carmel, Indiana choreographer, composer and director Gregory Hancock created an original musical in her honor. But that was 20 long years ago. Now, a series of personal tragedies, including deaths among family and friends and Gregory’s own brush with cancer, has galvanized him to bring his musical to the stage as an artistic legacy of his own. Featuring some of Indianapolis’ finest singers, artists and dancers performing to a lavish musical score, you can see the rich tapestry that is La Casa Azul: The Musical come alive after two decades in this full-length performance.
