POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Digital Content Intern - Purdue Students

*This is a mostly remote opportunity intended for Purdue University students only*

The digital content intern will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the creation, editing, and distribution of captivating content across various digital and broadcast platforms. This internship aims to provide hands-on experience in newsletter production and distribution, professional editing techniques, and social media content creation to promote America Amplified activities and content. As a valued member of our team, the digital content intern will participate in a national project supporting community engagement journalism in public media, offering significant learning and growth opportunities.

ESSETIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid in the creation of compelling visual and written social media content for multiple platforms.
  •  Learn best practices in researching and writing sections of the biweekly America Amplified newsletter, under the direction of the Digital Engagement Manager.
  • Support the America Amplified team with website updates and revisions as needed.
  • Assist America Amplified staff in the compilation of digital materials in preparation for engaged elections training sessions in the fall of 2023.
  • Help America Amplified staff in the compilation of digital onboarding materials for stations participating in the Elections 2024 initiative.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university or have graduated within the last six months.
  • Must be a college junior, senior, or recent graduate majoring in journalism, graphic design, digital media, communications, or related field.
  •  Demonstrated ability to create engaging video or audio content for digital platforms, social media, or broadcast.
  • Proficient experience using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere or Audition).

Highly Desirable:

  • Professional portfolio or demo reel.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Video and audio production skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to effectively interact both in-person and virtually via email, phone and/or Teams.
  • An aptitude for problem solving and an eagerness to pursue new challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to jump in on any task when needed.
