WFYI Mourns Loss Of Former News Director

WFYI is mourning the death of Rick Dawson, former WFYI multi-media news director, and longtime local broadcaster.

Rick was a consummate journalist, with more than three decades in broadcasting.  His award-winning career included stints at WANE-TV in Ft. Wayne and many years at WISH-TV in Indianapolis. He joined the WFYI staff in the fall of 2012 as the station began to strengthen its multi-platform approach to local news coverage, and resigned earlier this year.

The WFYI staff and board of directors extend their thoughts and prayers to Rick’s wife Shannon, their two children, along with his older daughter, during this sad time.

Shannon has worked in and around the WFYI studios for several years. She is the producer for “Indiana Lawmakers,” among numerous other part-time and volunteer assignments.  She also works with Grow Indiana Media Ventures, producers of “Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick.”

The calling for Rick will be Sunday, September 29 at  Knightstown United Methodist, 27 South Jefferson Street,  from 2 to 6 p.m.
