INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is traveling to Detroit to meet with auto industry officials at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
The governor's office says Pence is making the one-day trip on Thursday, during which he'll tour company exhibits at Detroit's Cobo Center. Pence also has meetings planned with General Motors CEO Mary Barra and executives of other companies, including Honda, Subaru, Fiat Chrysler, and Toyota.
Pence says the trip is aimed at strengthening ties with automakers and encouraging investment in Indiana.
The governor's office says Indiana has the second-largest auto industry in the country and that the industry directly employs more than 124,000 people in the state.
