The Indianapolis Zoo is planning to re-open the Skyline ride over the July 4th holiday weekend.
The elevated ride has been closed to the public since last July after several malfunctions that left some riders stranded in mid-air. A full evaluation has been completed and zoo officials say the ride is “completely and totally safe and reliable”.
The Skyline includes 1,200 feet of track rising 50 feet above the Zoo. The gondolas take visitors on a ride that offers views of the Zoo, including the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center, and downtown Indy.
The ride, which first opened to the public in July 2014, was designed and built especially for the Indianapolis Zoo by Kansas-based manufacturer Chance Rides, Inc.
