Sallie Mae is planning a $15.7 million dollar expansion that will bring 278 new jobs to Indianapolis by 2018.
State, local and Sallie Mae executives officials made the announcement Thursday morning, June 30th.
"It's about economic development for Indianapolis, and for our great state of Indiana. Today's announcement by this great company means 278 new, good paying jobs will be coming to our city, the IT, the customer service jobs for the people of this great city and this great state," says Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett.
The company recently moved an office space to three floors of a Woodfield Crossing location on the city’s northeast side. The new space includes 550 workstations, five conference rooms, two training rooms and additional rooms.
The new office will house information technology and customer service departments.
The Delaware-based company recently brought its private education loan customer services operations back to the U.S. last year.
