Indianapolis Public Schools will expand its summer meals program that provides breakfast and lunch at 28 locations in Marion County.
IPS Media Relations Coordinator Carrie Cline Black says it expanded its mobile service successfully.
"We know that transportation for some of our student population is often a barrier, and so they’re not always able to get to some of the school sites that we typically set up. So we are working harder to get to some of the community sites," she says.
The Bus Stop Cafe now stops at the Martin Luther Community Center, the Stratford Apartment Complex, and the Haughville and Irvington public library branches.
"So it’s literally a bus that we’ve converted into a food truck, and so we’re excited to be able to deploy it out to more community sites," says Cline Black.
Any person under eighteen qualifies for free meals. Adults can eat for $3.75.
