There’s a call out for fans and artists to create the next legendary trophy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Earlier this year, the IMS announced a new open wheel race set to debut at the legendary track this spring and that means a new trophy for the winner. Anyone interested in becoming a part of racing history can submit designs and ideas for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis award. IMS Senior Director of Marketing, Jarrod Krisiloff says the contest aims to link fans to the new race.
"What better way to get our fans better connected with the our new event, than to allow to be part of the next tradition at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."
IMS has partnered with the Arts Council of Indianapolis for the effort, and members will be part of panel of judges determining the winner.
Entries are due by Jan. 18 and can be submitted online at ims.com/trophycontest. The Grand Prix of Indianapolis is set for Saturday, May 10 2014.
