The “new normal” creates a challenging and confusing environment for most of us, and the impact of these daily, local and national challenges may affect Black youth more than most.

The Center for Leadership Development offers mentorship for youths, from 4th grade through college. President Dennis Bland spoke with WFYI’s Terri Dee about CLD’s efforts to support academic and professional development.

CLD recently held a virtual mental health workshop for local Black youth focusing on maintaining cultural identity, developing resilience and monitoring excessive technology use.

Terri Dee was the local newscaster for All Things Considered and reports on arts and culture, diversity, equity, inclusion and association, health, and business. She co-hosted WFYI’s award-winning television series, “Where Do We Go From Here?” exploring social, economic, housing, and education inequities experienced by people of color.
