Indiana has expanded many policies and programs to deal with the opioid epidemic. Prescription drug take back events are one tool to help prevent misuse and overdose.

U.S Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan says the events have grown. He says the agency’s newest tool allows people to easily find places to take unneeded medications.

"If you just want to type in search queries like medication disposal near me or drug drop off near me, Google will take you to our take back day locations," says Hargan.

Those places include fire stations and schools and some offer year round disposal.  National Prescription Drug Take Backhappens April 27.
