The Indianapolis Metro Police Department says a second officer-involved shooting happened overnight, not far from the scene of a deadly shooting on Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to a northwest side apartment building shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday on burglary in progress call.  IMPD says when they arrived the man began firing shots at police with a rifle. The four responding officers all returned fire, striking the man. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Indianapolis Police Chief Randall Taylor gave updates during a press conference.

"Our initial investigation also indicates that the deceased individual may have made the call with the intention of initiating an ambush style attack on the officers when they arrived," says Taylor.

The incident happened less than eight hours after another man was shot and killed by police following a car chase and foot pursuit.  The man allegedly streamed the chase on Facebook Live.

IMPD says investigations are underway in both cases.
