Brightwood-Forest Manor Community Center has a new home

The Brightwood-Forest Manor Community Center has a new home.

The eastside community center is now located in a former church building at 4062 E. 34th St.  The community center formerly rented a building owned by Scott United Methodist Church near 22nd Street and Arsenal Avenue.

The organization officially settled in this month after starting the move-in process in December, said Shonna Majors, the community center’s executive director.

“This is the first time in the 90-year history of the Brightwood Community Center that we have a stand-alone building,” Majors said.

The center offers a variety of programs including a summer camp, workforce development services and a food pantry twice a month.
