New Hope of Indiana needs caregivers.

The nonprofit organization serves hundreds of Hoosiers with intellectual and developmental disabilities across 100 work sites in Indiana, including 46 community-based residential homes in central Indiana.

Cassi Dean, director of supportive living, says the industry is experiencing a staffing shortage.

“As COVID has impacted almost every industry, we are not alone in feeling that staffing crunch. And also, just the direct care force in general was already at a lower level than we would have liked it to be pre pandemic,” Dean said. “So, post pandemic, I feel like that's just magnified at this point.”

New Hope hosts a job fair Thursday in an effort to fill positions.

“What we're really looking for is a number of individuals to serve within our organization as a direct support professional,” Dean said. “We have some other positions also available, some behavior, consultant type positions, even a maintenance position, but our primary focus is really to get those direct caregivers out to the individuals in need.”

The New Hope of Indiana Job Fair will take place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  at 8450 N. Payne Road, Suite 300 in Indianapolis.

Same-day interviews will be held for all open positions, which offer a variety of available shifts and schedules.
