Changes in Indianapolis council leadership for 2026

Indianapolis City-County President Maggie Lewis is also the CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis.

New leadership has taken their seats at the Indianapolis City-County Council.

The council elected Maggie Lewis as president and John Barth as vice president for 2026.  Lewis previously served as president and said she was excited to

“I look forward to working with each and every one of you as we work together to move our city forward,” Lewis said at the meeting.

Lewis previously served as majority leader on the council that holds a democratic majority. Jared Evans will now assume that role moving forward. 

Last month, Vop Osili announced he would step aside from the leadership position that he’s held since 2018.

The new leadership team assumed their roles during the January 5th council meeting which was the first meeting of the year. The group also plans to launch a monthly newsletter.
