A record percentage of Indiana students earned high school diplomas in 2024, slightly surpassing the state’s previous high set in 2014.
Last year, 90.23% of students graduated, a 1.33 percentage point increase from the 2023 rate, according to the Indiana Department of Education. The 2014 graduation rate of 90.06% had been the highest since the state began collecting data in 2012.

The Class of 2024 also had fewer students using waivers to earn diplomas. Waivers allow students who do not complete or pass certain graduation requirements to qualify for a diploma by demonstrating equivalent knowledge or skills. The non-waiver graduation rate rose to 87.53%, an increase of more than 2.5 percentage points compared to 2023.
