The former Wabash County coroner faces a felony charge of official misconduct, accused of failing to complete proper documentation on more than 300 cases that came through her office.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum, Carole Lynn Nose, 66, of Wabash was arrested Thursday after an investigation. Nose was booked into the Wabash County Jail and released on bond.

State police detectives received information Nose failed to hand over numerous files to the current coroner. When detectives recovered those files from her home, they found they did not contain an official coroners report.

Coroners reports, required by Indiana law, contain information about the investigation into the death, descriptions of the deceased person, their name and property found with the body.

Nose served as the Wabash County Coroner from 2008 through 2016.
