“Abandoning an animal is an ordinance violation in Marion County. There are consequences to doing that, but we need leads to follow up on,” IACS Deputy Director Katie Trennepohol said.

She said these are domesticated rabbits and they would not have survived outdoors.

“I think a lot of people think these rabbits are the same as wild rabbits and they can survive outside, but that’s definitely not the case,” Trennepohol said.

The rabbits are not available yet for adoption.   IACS is working with the Indiana House Rabbit Society to provide care to the rabbits, including getting them spayed and neutered.

Anyone with information about the rabbits is asked to contact IACS.
