Horizon House will host a Share the Warmth donation drive Saturday to gather winter clothes for the homeless.

Families are invited to visit the agency between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. to drop off coats, hats, blankets and other supplies. The annual event strives to collect supplies to keep homeless neighbors safe from cold weather exposure.

Marcie Luhigo, director of development and communications for Horizon House, said it’s critical to ensure those without homes are ready for the winter because the weather can be unpredictable and emergency shelters are not always available.

“We want to just help prepare them, whether it is that they’re sleeping outside all night of they’re just in the daytime trying to navigate getting to appointments and places that they need to go to receive services,” Luhigo said.

Luhigo said Horizon House moved the event to a Saturday to widen opportunities for families to be involved. Donors can simply drop off their items or stay and learn more about Horizon House’s larger mission to address housing insecurity.

Participants can deliver donations to Horizon House, located at 1033 E. Washington St.
