Indiana’s Congressional Delegation is calling for action over reports about widespread mail delays in the U.S. Postal Service distribution hub in Indianapolis. All members of Indiana’s Congressional Delegation recently sent a letter to the postmaster general asking for answers.

The letter said the delays have had real life consequences for Hoosiers who have been unable to receive medication, important documents and business shipments.

District 6 Congressman Jefferson Shreve signed onto the letter and forwarded copy in a press email last week. He said issues have revolved around one location.

“This is primarily reflected in the issues found with the USPS Regional Processing Center on the east side of Indianapolis,” Shreve said.

The USPS Regional Processing Center on Indianapolis’s was opened last year in response to a need for a new facility.

In a statement from the U.S Postal Service Communications, weather impacts in the Midwest helped to contribute to service delays. Facility transitions were completed two weeks ago.

“Postal officials are working to ramp up operations following the change,” U.S Postal Service Communications said in the statement.
