Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Beach To Close For A Week

PORTAGE, Ind. (AP) — A beach at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is closing for a week for a paving project.

The National Park Service says the lakeshore's West Beach area along the Lake-Porter county line in northwestern Indiana will be closed from Thursday through Nov. 9.

The park service says other beach areas will remain open during the paving project. Those beaches include Portage Lakefront, Porter, Kemil, Dunbar and Lakeview.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore stretches along 15 miles of the southern shore of Lake Michigan. It's currently open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
