Indiana Toll Road Rest Stops To Get Rebuilt In $30M Plan

GRANGER, Ind. (AP) — Eight rest stops along the Indiana Toll Road will get replaced and two will be permanently closed as part of a restoration plan costing more than $30 million.

Indiana Toll Road manager ITR Concession Co. said in a news release Monday that eight travel plaza buildings will be torn down and rebuilt. The roadway's two easternmost rest stops, which are in Steuben County and only offer fuel and restrooms, will be permanently closed Thursday.

The restoration plan calls for the new rest stops at Rolling Prairie and Howe to be full-service plazas. The new ones at Portage and Elkhart would have gas stations and convenience stores.

ITR Concession Co. says the restoration plan is currently slated to be finished by early 2018.
