Numerous events to remember the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 are planned around Indianapolis Friday morning.

City officials and emergency responders will attend a 9/11 Memorial Mass outside the Indianapolis Professional Firefighters union building on Mass Ave.

There will also be a remembrance ceremony at the Indiana 9/11 Memorial overlooking the downtown canal. A memorial committee announced plans this week to expand the site and include a large piece of Indiana limestone from the Pentagon crash.

A piece of World Trade Center steel will be on display at the Indianapolis International Airport for the day, after a Patriots Day ceremony commemorating those who lost their lives in the terror attacks.
