The Indiana Department of Transportation is looking for artists to help design an art exhibit at the Kankakee Welcome Center.

The exhibit at the center along Interstate 65 will consist of seven 15-20 feet tall wind turbine blades mounted vertically. There will be a boardwalk running through the exhibit for visitors to view the artwork.

INDOT statewide facilities director Steve Mcavoy says the murals should represent the northwest region of Indiana.

“It could be industry, it could be geography, it could be nature, could be education related, something  that has interest that represents that part of the state,” said Mcavoy.

The start date for the exhibit is Spring 2021 and artwork should be completed Summer 2021.

Artists interested in exhibiting can find more information on INDOT’s website.
