A community center that serves more than 300 families on the northwest side of Indianapolis will temporarily close its doors.
The Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center will undergo an intensive audit amid financial challenges, according to a Stephanie McFarland, a spokesperson for the center.
The center provides services to the community including a food pantry, child care, educational programming and social support.
Former CEO Patrice Duckett-Brown left this summer after the board made leadership changes. The center made additional cutbacks to staff and services last month.
The statement said the center faced financial challenges because of overstaffing and overextending support for families.
The childcare center will close Friday, August 15.
On Thursday afternoon, Steven Dorsey with Purpose of Life Academy — a nearby childcare provider that’s unaffiliated with the center — was talking to numerous families about alternate daycare options.
“I hope things work out for them, the families and the business and the workers,” Dorsey said.
The center has not announced a reopening date.
