Post-Pandemic, IndyGo Opens Opportunities To Some With Criminal Records

Post-Pandemic, IndyGo Opens Opportunities To Some With Criminal Records

IndyGo needs to hire drivers to make up for workers it lost during the pandemic.

Spokesperson Carrie Black says, as the city re-opens and people return to work, IndiGo needs those drivers to keep pace with its expanded services and ensure on-time service.

“I think if we could hire 50 to 70 drivers in the upcoming months, we would be really happy with that,” Black said.

There are more than 200 buses operating throughout Indianapolis.

IndyGo also has a new program called the Second Chance initiative that considers applicants with criminal records.

“We recognize there is a certain stigma attached to people with a criminal background,” Black said. “We want to remove that barrier and assist with re-entry into the workforce.”

Interested applicants must be 21 years old. Drivers can earn up to 20 dollars an hour and benefits.
