Rebuilding And Recovery Committee To Begin Efforts To Support Downtown Businesses

The Downtown Indy Rebuilding and Recovery Committee meets for the first time Wednesday. WFYI’s Taylor Bennett spoke with Downtown Indy Inc. President and CEO Sherry Seiwert about plans to increase foot traffic, bring back small events and support businesses downtown.

Sheriff Kerry Forestal said the jail reached capacity as a result of 175 people convicted of state crimes awaiting transfer to state prison facilities and could result in a budgetary shortfall of around $2.7 million for the office.
