The Indianapolis City-County Council plans a series of meetings to begin its 2022 redistricting process. It’s the first time the effort will start with a public engagement campaign.
State statute requires redistricting of Marion County’s 25 districts after the federal census, which was completed in 2020. The council is seeking input ahead of that process. Residents are asked to weigh in on their community strengths and learn more about how the district may change.
One forum will be held in each of the county’s nine townships. Residents are invited to attend any of the meetings. The educational campaign is dubbed “Your Voice 2022” and includes a website detailing the process, meeting locations and COVID measures. The meetings will be accessible in different languages.
