Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) removed Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) from two study committees Friday and demoted him in another.

That comes after Lucas drew fire this week for the most recent incident in which he posted on social media a meme decried as racist.

Huston made no statement on the matter. The changes came in a list of updated committee assignments.

Lucas no longer sits on the Interim Study Committee on Elections and the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy. He previously served as Vice Chair of the Standing Select Committee on Government Reduction; he is now a regular member of that panel.
